OUR METHODOLOGY
Listen, Talk, Connect
Gifted by Uncle Wayne Thorpe - Gunnai Elder, The story of Tyetdji informs how our we engage with community.
In order to Listen, Talk and Connect with Tyetdji (Brown Hawk) we must delve deeper into the meaning.
Firstly, yellow represents the colour of the sun. When the sun rises, the birds wake up and begin to sing to the community. We listen carefully to the birds during sunrise, we get a chance to appreciate their sound and hear them talk to us about their name and who they are.
This helps us identify and connect spiritually with them, just like our Ancestors did. At Hawthorn, we listen first, we listen to our Elders talk about culture we build our cultural game plan, which will enable us to connect and unite as a club.
